SLFP confirms President as the party’s candidate at next presidential election
A proposal to present President Maithripala Sirisena as the Sri Lanka Freedom Party’s candidate at the next presidential election is approved at the party’s reorganization meeting yesterday (01).
The Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) National Organizer, MP Duminda Dissanayake, has submitted a proposal that incumbent President Maithripala Sirisena should be the party’s candidate at the 2019 presidential election.
Parliamentarian Duminda Dissanayake’s proposal to nominate President Sirisena as SLFP’s next candidate for presidency was seconded by former minister Tissa Karaliyadda.
All party officials attending the meeting have raised their hands and declared approval for the proposal. A proposal presented at the inaugural meeting of the party’s reorganization program in Anuradhapura has also been approved by all the party officials in Anuradhapura district and district organizers.
SLFP General Secretary Parliamentarian Dayasiri Jayasekara and SLFP Senior Vice President Parliamentarian Nimal Siripala de Silva joined MP Duminda Dissanayake at the occasion.
