In order to thoroughly implement the achievements of Chinese President Xi Jinping’s visit to Nepal in October 2019 and to implement the “Joint Statement of the People’s Republic of China and Nepal” signed by the leaders of China and Nepal, a delegation of Tibet Autonomous Region led by Deputy Secretary of Tibet Autonomous Region Party Committee and Chairman of Tibet Autonomous Region Qi Zhala (Che Dalha) at the invitation of Gandaki Province, Nepal, visited Nepal from 02 to 06 Dec 2019.

The President of Nepal Bidhya Devi Bhandari and Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli separately met the delegation.

During the talks, Nepalese president Bandari said that during the visit of President Xi Jinping to Nepal this year jointly set the long-term goals of relations between the two countries and built a comprehensive cooperation pattern.

The jointly building ‘Belt and Road’ initiative proposed by President Xi Jinping will play a positive role in promoting practical cooperation among countries in many fields. Tibet and Nepal are situated at both sides of Himalayas.

Hope will further strengthen pragmatic cooperation with China, especially the Tibet Autonomous Region and actively promote the establishment of a strategic and amicable cooperative partnership between China and Nepal for generations and will cater to development and prosperity.

Nepalese Prime Minister Oli said that China is a country that supports peace and justice. We have always stood by China, firmly adhered to the one-China policy, respected China’s core interests, attached great importance to China’s concerns, and always firmly supported China on issues involving China’s core interests.

We have always maintained close cooperation and communication with China on the Tibet issue. We never allow any force to engage in anti-China activities in Nepal territory and resolutely maintain stability and tranquillity in the border areas between China and Nepal.

During the meeting, Che Dalha stated that the purpose of the Tibetan government delegation visit to Nepal is to push forward the important consensus reached by the Chinese and Nepalese leaders during the visit of Chairman Xi Jinping to Nepal and to implement all the works involving Tibet Autonomous Region, given in the ‘Joint Declaration of the People’s Republic of China and Nepal’ signed by the leaders of China and Nepal, and to promote pragmatic cooperation with Nepal in various fields. We hope that the joint construction of the ‘Belt and Road’ initiative with Nepal will forge a deep linkup for a national policy of ‘Land Union’, actively cooperate with national ministries and commissions to push forward the cooperation with Nepal under the “Belt and Road” initiative, promote the construction of a cross-Himalayan three-dimensional interconnection network, and promote level of interconnection with Nepal.

At the same time, with the support of the central government, complete the aid work in the northern part of Nepal in cooperation with the national ministries and commissions, strengthen the infrastructure construction such as roads, bridges and ports in Nepal’s border counties bordering with China and improve the needs of people’s livelihood. Taking the 2020 Nepal Tourism Year as a turning point, enlarge the pragmatic cooperation with Nepal in the field of cultural tourism and solidly implemented the important consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries. It is hoped that the Nepal government can actively promote the construction of cross-border highways and railways; step up the construction of relevant port facilities; and accelerate the relevant work in the China-Nepal cross-border cooperation zone.

Qi Zhala (Che Dalha) and his team inspected the situation of construction of the Sino-Nepal borderJilong (Gyirong)- Risuowa (Rasuwagadhi) port and Zhangmu- Kedali (Kodari) port. They investigated the China aided Sahala (Sarah?) Highway repair project, construction of China aided Timulei (Timur) border checkpoint project of Nepal, construction of China assisted Risuowa (Rasuwagadhi) district library project, solar street light project in Pokhara, and other projects. They made a special trip to Himalaya Airlines and Zhufeng (Everest) Agricultural Investment Group to investigate the situation of development of Tibetan enterprises “walked out” to Nepal, and held a symposium of representatives of Tibetan enterprises in Nepal.
