Iran Raises Alarm After Israel Test Fires Possible Jericho Missile
Al-Masdar News and other media sources reported that Iran has raised an alarm after Israel is reported to have fired a mystery missile- possibly Jericho which can be nuclear armed and has the range to target Iran.
Iran’s Foreign Minister Javad Zarif complained in a tweet, “Israel today tested a nuke-missile, aimed at Iran- E3 & US never complain about the only nuclear arsenal in West Asia—armed with missiles actually DESIGNED to be capable of carrying nukes—but has fits of apoplexy over our conventional & defensive ones”.
Earlier Israel’s Ministry of Defence tweeted that the defence establishment conducted a test of a rocket propulsion system, from a base in central Israel.
The test was said to be pre-determined and took place according to plan. Israel’s defence ministry failed to disclose the location of the predetermined test. Some have speculated that the test was likely to have taken place at the Palmachim airbase situated south of Tel Aviv due to the trail of smoke left by the rocket.
The military installation is believed to have a launchpad for Israel’s Jericho ballistic missiles. The Jericho ballistic missiles have been developed with American assistance however little is known of the weapon and its capabilities and is speculated to be capable of carrying nuclear warheads.
Iran’s Foreign Minister Mohammed Javad Zarif argued Israel’s latest military test was more concerning and hinted at it being a nuclear missile warning.
Zarif has complained strongly as the E3 – UK, Germany and France recently wrote to the UN Secretary General over Iran’s missiles in violation of UN Security Council resolution 2231 which Tehran has denied
This comes even as tensions in the Middle East have risen to a new high with reports of the U.S. planning to further increase strength in the region.
Meanwhile tensions have arisen in the U.S. Saudi coalition after a Saudi naval personnel was involved in an incident of shoot out at a naval base in the American mainland.
