Air Marshal Sumangala Dias appointed new Commander of Sri Lanka Air Force

Sri Lanka President Maithripala Sirisena today has appointed Air Marshal D L Sumangala Dias as the new Commander of Sri Lanka Air Force.

The new Commander received his letter of appointment from President Sirisena this morning (May 29) at the President’s Official Residence in Colombo.

Air Marshal Dias is the 17th Commander of the Sri Lanka Air Force. He replaces the former Commander Air Marshal Jayampathy who retired at the age of 55.

The President promoted Air Marshal Kapila Jayampathy to the four star rank of Air Chief Marshal with effect from 28th May 2019. He is scheduled to relinquish command today at Air Force Headquarters.

Air Marshal Dias has received training at the Command and Staff College in India and the National Defense College in Bangladesh.
